Assalama Hospitals is a dream come true for a group of eminent and renowned visionaries with a respected name in the healthcare business and social fraternity especially in the Middle East. It aims to provide world-class, specialised and superior multi-specialty health care at affordable cost complimented by the warmth of human touch for the growing population of the Sultanate of Oman.

This hospital's maiden venture was commissioned in 2002 in Ruwi and within a span of 13 years the group is positioned as the largest private healthcare group in the Sultanate, spreading its wings the length and breadth of the country in major places like Al Khuwair, Sohar, Salalah, Al Khoud, Barka, Sur, Nizwa and Falaj Al Qabail.

The hospital uses an application in its reception of all the wings of the building and the management of the hospital wants to change the application because of its slow services. The application has been developed by using a Visual Basic program with some limited functionalities and reports.

The management has given order to change the existing system into a new system to Data Infotech L.L.C. Data Infotech L.L.0 prioritises the requirements of the new system and agrees to deliver the first version of the new system for the most priority requirements in a year and then to deliver a second version later on.

The manager of Data Infotech L.L.C. signed an agreement with the management of the hospital and assigns a project team to complete the project. The team is a collection of programmers, designers, analysts, testers and a project leader. The project leader submits some of the requirements of the new system to the team members.

Windows Application: Hospital Management System

This project includes registration of patients, storing their details into the system. It has the facility to give a unique ID for every patient and stores the details of every patient and the staff automatically. It includes a search facility to know the current status of each room. The user can search the availability of a doctor and the details of a patient using the id.

It can be accessed either by an administrator or receptionist by using his/her username and password. Only the administrator can access all functions of the new system and the receptionist can access some limited functions only. The data are stored and retrieved using a database. The data can be retrieved easily. The interface should be very user-friendly. The data have to be well protected for personal use and will make the data processing very fast.

Outline of Tasks

You have to assume that you are working as a team member to develop a system in the Data Infotech L.L.C. You have to select a suitable methodology to develop a system for the hospital. As a team member, how do you help in the phases of the system development? Write your views and recommendations for the following questions in your report

Section A

- List out the user's requirements and project goals of the proposed system.

- Investigate a suitable methodology for the proposed system development and explain it in detail. Give reasons why you selected.

- Analyse the requirements using use case diagrams and specify the relationship between users and actions.

- Design a story board for the proposed system and discuss the importance of it.

• You have to prepare all the types of test cases(positive,negative) for any two prototypes that you designed. (200 words minimum)

Section B

• You have to design and develop your system using any one of the programming languages (Visual Basic / Java). You can use a database system to store/retrieve data. Include the implemented screens and some important programs in your report. Describe briefly each screen.

• Test the system using the test plans and identify the issues. Include the screen layouts of testing in your report. (300 words)

Printing Details

When printing the report, please be aware of the following guide on printing:
- Use A4 sized paper;
- Margins of 35mm of the left side, 20 mm on all other sides;
- Use one and a half line spacing;
- Print on only one side of the papers;
- Font for main text should be Times New Roman size 12 and code text can be Arial 12.
