Review and Evaluation stage

Ending a relationship with a client is a longstanding focus for social workers. The profession is committed to facilitating appropriate and effective terminations with clients and follow up when needed.

In general the termination process includes reviewing the work and accomplishments, discussing the development of the working relationship and planning to sustain the changes that have been achieved.

Making the effort to perform an evaluation helps to determine the effectiveness of the intervention. Mandates that social workers engage and ultize research to improve practice.

Engaging in research can include program evaluation and research on individual practitioner effectiveness. Research on practice may involve evalutation tools that access the progress of a program and may encourage individual social workers to reflect on the quality of their work.
