PEER 2

Dear Mrs. Andrews,

Yesterday we discussed the idea of becoming accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). I told you that I believe it would be a great idea, but you do not think it would be because you believe it would be expensive. That may be true but, I would like to share the benefits of being NAEYC Accredited.

NCEYC would be beneficial to our center, children and their families in the ten areas listed below.

1. Relationships

2. Curriculum

3. Teaching

4. Assessment of child progress

5. Health

6. Teachers

7. Families

8. Community relationships

9. Physical environment

10. Leadership and management

The program uses the things I have mentioned about to meet the needs of each child where they are on an individual cognitively, physically, socially & emotionally, and language wise.

They welcome special needs children with inclusion and an individual goal plan. Their curriculum sets goals for the children in the areas of cognitive, physical, social-emotional, and language.

These goals are based on the development of each individual child. The use of specific assessment tools aid teachers in their teaching classroom leadership, and management skills through the use of lesson plans, and a program called Teaching Strategies Goal so that they can incorporate culture and art to teach children their self-worth as well as lessons concerning community helpers, math, and language.

They believe that relationships between children, teachers and other staff members is considered to be an important part of the growth and development of the children in the center because they help to encourage and build their self-esteem.

After reading this letter I sincerely hope that you will consider become a NAEYC accredited center. I believe doing so will increase attendance, strengthen the bond between teachers, children, and families and cause our center to become highly recommended in our community as it provides a safe, welcoming, caring, and community friendly environment to staff, children, and their families.
