Respond to the following questions:

1. As we have read in our readings this week and in McLaughlin’s missives, American corporations seemed to have benefited from African American slaves. What has been the implications of this? Do you think that American corporations should apologize for their role in slavery? Should they pay descendents of slaves for the profits they have made on this process?

2. Hispanic American’s have held onto their language and culture but this has been controversial. Do you think that the United States should have an “Official” language and should that language be English? Or, do you think we should have multiple official languages which includes English and Spanish? Secondly, given the dramatic growth of the Hispanic population in the United States, should we continue to limit immigration?
