Research Outline for Proposed Research on Cybercrime

Working Title: Addressing the problem of cyber bullying

Introduction

The threat of cybercrime is increasingly and persistently becoming a reality in both the public and the private sectors of the economy. The increasing use of the internet is gradually causing a shift of traditional crime to computer-related crime due to a number of factors including, which makes the main reason for the shift, lack of control and regulations in the cyberspace.

With the increasing crime rates in the cyberspace, there is the need for solutions aimed at preventing and punishing the perpetrators of these crimes. The issue of cyber bullying is spiking across major social sites, an issue that is cause major psychological problems to the users of such sites. There have been cases of suicides caused by behaviors of bullying over the internet.

The severity of the problem calls for effective measures in addressing the adversities of the use of the sites. The research, therefore, centers on finding effective solutions that can be applied to eradicate the rising problem of bullying over major social media such as Facebook, twitter, and Instagram among others.

Thesis

A number of research projects have been conduct in the field of cybercrime, in which, the topic of cyber bullying and cyber harassment have been duly covered comprehensively. However, there are not conclusive remarks on some of the effective solutions that can be adopted to eradicate the problem. Therefore, there is the need for an investigation aimed at identifying some of the strategies that can be adopted in managing the issue of cyber bullying or harassment.

Research Questions/Subtopics

1. What is the nature of cyber bullying in the world?

2. What are the types of bullying in the cyberspace?

3. What measures can be adopted to prevent users to be victims of cyber bullying?

4. How can the perpetrators of the crimes be caught and penalized?
