Assessment Task 1 - Legal Report

You are required to research local and international pieces of legislation (as listed below) that may have influence on business opportunities and operations in the international market.

The legislation and law required to be researched are:

International Commercial Terms (INCOTERMS)

Trade modernisation legislation:

• Customs Legislation Amendment and Repeal Act
• Import Processing Charges Act
• Customs Depot Licensing Charges Amendment Act

Trade Practices Act

Warsaw Convention

World Trade Organization determinations

Information can be provided in a summary or in a bulleted list format, and should not exceed one page per piece of legislation examined.

Assessment Task 2 - Feasibility Report

Instructions to Student:-

Step One - You will need to choose any invention (product) listed on the ABC Television New Inventors website that is suitable to be developed through an offshore business licensing model.

Step Two - You will then need to complete a feasibility report focused on two key areas:

• processes and skills analysis
• risk and support services analysis.

1. Identify the product you have chosen from the inventions listed on the ABC Television New Inventors website, and briefly describe why you chose this product.

2. Select a specific target market and discuss the relevant cultural aspects of your choice.

3. Explain the common measures you will use to make your recommendations on this business opportunity.

4. Identify and briefly describe the relevant legislation that may affect this business opportunity.

5. Complete a short written report (minimum 500 words) describing the:

a) processes required to establish the international business opportunity

b) skills required by personnel in country and the personal skills needed to manage this business opportunity

c) principles of risk management associated with this business opportunity

d) support services that may be needed to be accessed.

Assessment Task 3 - Product Licensing and Presentation

Instructions to Student:-

You must identify a product suitable for offshore licensing, complete a feasibility study and present a report to a group (or simulated group) of business investors. As part of the presentation, candidates will need to seek feedback on the business opportunity they have presented.

You are required to provide a supporting document for the presentation that contains:

• the research undertaken to investigate the business opportunity
• the sources of information that were accessed
• a risk review of the business opportunity
• an analysis of their own skills, referenced against the business opportunity
• the summary findings of all research
• a viability decision regarding the business opportunity.

You are required to:

1. Identify the product chosen, explain why the identified product has been chosen and who owns the intellectual property of the product.

2. Develop a PowerPoint presentation and a report describing:

a) the product and how it was chosen

b) the research undertaken to investigate the business opportunity, including relevant legislation

c) the sources of information that were accessed

d) a risk review of the business opportunity

e) an analysis of their own skills, referenced against the business opportunity

f) a summary of findings (research)

g) a viability decision regarding the business opportunity.

3. Deliver the presentation (10 minutes duration) and make available your printed report for review.

4. Offer an opportunity for feedback or clarification on the business opportunity presented.
