Required textbook for this course is ORGB5 - by Debra L. Nelson and James C. Quick. 2017

Create a journal entry entitled " Employee Motivation."

Based on your perspective and job position in your organization, analyze the work motivation of employees in your organization (department, unit, and group) and the influence and impact of stress upon employees. Determine what motivates most of the employees in your organization? For example, is it -

Hard work on the grounds that prosperous workers are more likely to find salvation (or a place in heaven) (Weber & Blood)?

The compulsion to work and the power of love (Freud)?

Self-interest for economic gain to provide the necessities and conveniences of life (Smith)?

Other motives by theorists discussed in the textbook.

Write the results of your analysis. Include as a minimum the following:

State your job position (e.g., manager, employee, small business owner).

Define the primary source of employees' work motivation in your organization.

Identify the sociologist (or psychologist) and/or theory associated with the source of employee work motivation you defined.

Describe one (1) example of an employee's behavior that reflects that motivational theory. What are the possible performance outcomes and impact of that behavior upon the employee, group, or organization?

State whether or not your work motivation is similar or different from the employees you analyzed. In what ways? Why?

Stress can influence and impact employee motivation. Again, consider your organization.

Identify three (3) stressors (e.g., demand, person, event), which typically create stress upon employees.

Describe the distress or strain associated with each stressor you identified and some typical consequences.

Identify an activity, strategy, or technique, which could prevent or diminish the stress upon employees and enhance positive well-being.

Purpose

This assignment will help you analyze the work motivation of employees in an organization and recognize the work behaviors, performance, and consequences associated with different theories about human motivation and needs.

It also requires you to consider the influence and impact of stress upon employee motivation and ways in which to reduce stress.

This assignment aligns with all of the course and unit level objectives.
