In the Novel Roll Of Thunder Here My Cry, Why do you think it was more common for the children to engage in acts of protest, and most of the adults were perceived to turn a cheek to the mis treatment and discrimination? also identify the acts of protest that the children engaged in.

Considering that children protest are seldom spoken about, it appeared that Mildred Taylor wanted to shed some light on how children can too feel the effect of discrimination and unequal treatment, even when they have no knowledge about it, and take action. Furthermore, the Logan children seemed to be kept in the dark about a lot of what had been going on in the communities or even the world at that time. Sort of to say they were kept in a child's place, and because their family were one of the wealthier African American families, the children had not experienced much of what the less fortunate African American children had.The Logan's appear to be naive, whereas Stacy's friend T.J, whom is one of the less fortunate was made to be a "know it all". Therefore, since the Logan children had been sheltered and protected all their lives, thus far, they seemed to be the main children doing all the protesting, because they are not as aware of the consequences. The parents, or adults in the story know the consequences of revolting, and standing up for what they know is right. Big Ma for instance, protest the least, or not at all, of course she has been around the longest, and have witness and experienced the most. Even Until the Logan children were of age appropriate enough for Big Ma, they were not able to go to places such as strawberry, where they could experience racism and discrimination due to the color of their skin. T.J. who has been to strawberry plenty of times, acted as if the treatment was normal and acceptable, therefore he does not protest, or make a big deal along with Cassie, whom was experiencing this for the first time.

Cassie, Little Man, and Momma protested the passed down books, when they threw them on the floor, refused to read them, and glued the page. The Logan Children protested the White only bus, when they made a ditch and contributed to the damage and it being out of order. Jeremy is protesting his parents orders of not communicating, and affiliating with the African Americans, because he disobeys and does it anyway, regardless of the consequences. When Cassie refused to be served last at the store, and to step off the sidewalk to honor the Sim's, that was considered a protest.
