Rationale:
Practical exercises assess students' ability to apply theoretical learning to practical, real world situations. In this assessment students, must form project groups of 3 to 4 students. Each group must prepare a report answering the questions related to specific organization selected by the group.
Task Specifications :
Students should select an organisation they have access to (preferably an organisation where the students work or have worked recently). The organization must provide IS services to the staff and customers such as email, webpage, and database. The students have to write a report to answer the followings related to the selected organization:
1. Discuss the service the organization provided and how each department uses information technology. Illustrate the types of data structures and the usage of IT infrastructure to achieve the organization business processes. What hardware equipment are required including the network devices. Explain the function of each device.
2. Assume the organization want to use network-attached storage for data storage and access. Search and discuss the types of network-attached storage.
3. Specify the operating systems and application software required for data communication between the clients and servers for each department. Justify your answer.
4. Explain the function of each layer of the Internet model.
5. Use the Internet model with the support of diagrams to explain how messages are moved between the layers when an employee's sent an email.
6. Explain how the Internet model layered systems increases the efficiencies and resiliencies of the organization.
7. Discuss the kind of networks used at the organization. Justify your answer.

8. Propose with justification the type of application architectures that would appear to be the most beneficial to the human resources department that must support video conferences and interviews.
You may need to make some assumptions with the required justifications.

The report should be organised using the following headings and guidelines:
