Question:
This week's discussion assignment is a real brain strain! Try your hand at interpreting one of the "garden path" sentences below (remember that a garden path sentence is one that starts sound like it is going to mean one thing and then ends leaving you believing it means another).
Don't worry if some of the sentences don't seem to make sense--you've been garden pathed!
Before picking a sentence to interpret be sure to read your classmate's initial posts first and pick one that hasn't been tackled.

Until the police arrest the drug dealers control the street.
The man who hunts ducks out on weekends.
When Fred eats food gets thrown.
Mary gave the child the dog bit a bandaid.

Helen is expecting tomorrow to be a bad day.

I know the words to that song about the queen don't rhyme.
She told me a little white lie will come back to haunt me.
The dog that I had really loved bones.
That Jill is never here hurts.
The man who whistles tunes pianos.
The old man the boat.
Have the students who failed the exam take the supplementary.
The raft floated down the river sank.
We painted the wall with cracks.
The tycoon sold the offshore oil tracts for a lot of money wanted to kill JR.
Be sure to cite and reference all outside materials, including the text book. All posts should include at least one outside source. If you use the text book your citation should look like this (Goldstein, 2015) in the body of your post.
If you are making a direct quote, you should also include the page number (Goldstein, 2015, p. 20). At the end of your post you should include the following Reference listing:
