In addition to academic skills, there are other factors that support your success, such as managing your time, creating a support network, and having a plan in place for financing your education. The Campus website has resources that can help you in these areas. In this unit, we will point out some resources you can use to create a comprehensive plan to carry with you and use to support your continued success beyond orientation.

Exploring all information and resources provided in this unit could take up to 3 hours. Based on your previous higher education experience, you may spend slightly more or less time than this.

After reading through this introduction, work through the unit studies, discussion, assignment, and quiz.

OBJECTIVES

To successfully complete this learning unit, you will be expected to:

Evaluate your time management skills and priorities.

Identify ways in which other people in your life might help support your time management plan.

Create your plan for achieving your goals, maintaining a growth mindset, utilizing the available resources, establishing a support network, managing priorities, and understanding your finances.

Participate in a discussion, assignment, and quiz in the courseroom.

Begin exploring the Orientation Toolkit.

These activities will encourage you to think about factors beyond academic skills that will also help you be successful in your program. You''re in a good place, because you''ve been through schooling before and likely have experience with things like time management, financial and career planning, and using a support network. However, your life probably looks different now and you''re entering a new program, so it will be beneficial to work through these activities and feel even more prepared to succeed.

You will use the information you learn from these activities to complete the discussion, assignment, and the quiz in this unit.

At the end of this seminar, we will provide you with an Orientation Toolkit that contains more resources you can review after orientation and use throughout your program.

Time Management

Readiness Center: Assess Time & Priorities will help you determine how well you manage your time and learn some new skills to help align your time with your priorities.

Click Planning Time for Your Education to learn how to identify your priorities, understand what is expected of you in courses, and create a weekly plan to carve out time from your busy schedule to pursue and achieve your degree.
