a. Ways to enhance social support

The process of establishing the support should feature in the first step in creating a sense of identity in basketball team. The coach has to guide the process. The tasks should begin with goal formulation then encouraging members to communicate openly about the concerns. The members can also provide contacts of their loved ones to enhance communication with their external support when needs arise. Secondly, the coach is responsible for inspiring a sense of belonging in the team. Members have to establish communication codes unique to ensure commitment to a common goal.

b. Ways to increase proximity

It is worth ensuring there is proximity. The feeling is essential in encouraging commitment for the realization of the objective of the team. The coach can advise members to interact closely even away from the pitch. The option to reside close to the training facility is recommendable. In cases where such is impractical, the leaders should guide the members to organize visitation to the homes of each person at least once in a month.

c. Ways to increase groups distinctiveness

The team has to adopt a uniform for training and gaming that differentiate the members from other organizations. They have to incorporate a logo communicating the vision of the team. During practice, the units must embrace a language of communication that encourages openness in the interaction among members. Expression of humility in action is necessary during the steps.

d. Perception of Fairness

The process of creation of the perception of fairness will require assigning individuals responsibilities on a rotational basis. However, the coach should allow individual to choose tasks on certain occasions. He/she will regard all members as equal regardless of contribution to the team.

e. Increase Similarity

The leadership has the responsibility for harmonizing the efforts of members by identifying strengths of each then capitalizing on the aspects that encourage coordination in the team. The leaders should encourage improvements in abilities by prioritizing efforts over accomplishments as a means of inspiring an idea of unity in the team that makes all feel similar.
