Module Overview: Ethical and Effective Communication

In this module, you will identify the key ethical issues that you need to consider while communicating. You will also scrutinize ethical dilemmas and challenges, and identify strategies for eliminating those challenges and promoting ethical behavior in the workplace.

In addition, meetings are a familiar feature of life in an organization. They range from dull to emotionally charged. A meeting is a formalized gathering of people discussing an agenda. You can also hold meetings via conference calls or the Internet.

To get the best out of meetings, you should always plan and execute them in an efficient manner.

In this module, you will explore ethical communications. In addition, you will examine types and stages of meetings, and explore the importance of documentation and leadership while conducting meetings.

Summary: In this module, you explored the relationship between ethics and communication. By understanding potential ethical issues, you will be well equipped to make your own communication free of offensive, unjust, or illegal messages.

You also examined the importance of leading and documenting meetings. Additionally, you explored meeting types, stages, and strategies to ensure productive and effective meetings.

In the assignments for this module, you will understand how to plan and execute meetings effectively. In the first assignment of this module, you will discuss the connection between communication and ethics in the workplace. In the second assignment, you will have to find the best way to plan and organize an effective meeting in order to achieve specific organizational goals.

You have been selected to address the quarterly meeting of your company's board of directors. You will be delivering negative updates that include low profits, pending lawsuits, and high employee turnover. The members of your board of directors are dispersed across the country.

Based on your analysis of the scenario and the meeting design practices covered in this module, address the following:
