As a policy advocate it is important for you to be familiar with your legislators. In Policy Advocacy 4.1 on pg 101 (print version) there are some websites that may help you complete the following exercise:

1. Who are your state senators and your US Senator?

2. What are their top legislated agenda items?

3. Is there any information about their campaign finances on their websites?

4. Who is their constituency?

5. Do your legislators support or oppose any policy that is related to the topic you've chosen for the semester?

6. Share any other interesting information you learned about them.

• How Our Laws Are Made: A detailed description of the federal legislative process.

• THOMAS (Library of Congress): Search engine for federal bills and laws, links tobiographical information, and links to additional congressional Internet services.

• United States Senate: Links to senators ' websites, legislative agendas, votes, and more.

• United States House of Representatives: Links to representatives ' websites, legislativeagendas, votes, and more.
