Question: Short term and long-term goal planning can be challenging, but incredibly rewarding if an individual is able to keep their resolve and determination to meet their goals. Creating a personal five-year plan (or any long-term plan for that matter) is never easy because it seems that there is never enough time to accomplish all desired dreams. Personally, I think that education should always be in the mix or at least be a driver to get a person where they want to be in five or more years in the future. Companies must develop an annual business plan that integrates having a five or ten-year forecast for the future. Don't you think that people should try to do the same every year? This goes beyond the typical "New Years Resolution" that some people do not complete for various reasons. What do you think about making a personal contract to develop goals, meet goals, etc? How can HR professionals help employees develop their own personal five-year career plan? Do you think that companies should implement this kind of action into the workplace or leave it up to people as a personal thing to do on their own? Why?
