Question: Select a current event involving a conflict that was in the news in the past 10 months (from May, 2017 on). Find a written description of it online. Print the description and attach it to the hard copy of your paper when you hand it in but do not include it with your paper when you submit on Safe Assign. The conflict must be between GROUPS of people (nations, gangs, ethinicities. races, de. ). not, between two individuals. but it is acceptable if you write about two individuals who got into a conflict BECAUSE they are members of conflicting groups.
Using ONE concept or study from EACI I of weeks 2, 3, and 4, on the syllabus, give an explanation of why the people involved in the event may have behaved as they did.
Based upon the format included in the section entitled "Anatomy of an Essay" in the syllabus, your paaper must follow the rules listed below.
1. The first paragraph should be an Introduction as described in the syllabus. It should very briefly say something about psychological processes that might lead to conflict and that you will be choosing three processes (or studies) to explain a conflict.
The next four paragraphs should be based upon the suggestions for "Body Paragraphs in the syllabus, with topic, supporting, and concluding sentences.
2. The second paragraph should briefly describe the details of the event. It should not include every single thing that happened but should include the important actions, particularly every detail that you will refer to in the rest of the paper. You must give all the information needed by the person grading your paper in making a decision as to whether you applied the concepts from the course correctly. The most important aspect is what may have caused the conflict or caused it to get out of hand.
3. Paragraphs 3-5 should each focus on applying a concept from weeks 2-4 (one concept or study from each of the weeks in each paragraph) on the syllabus, again with topic, supporting, and concluding sentences. Be sure to include a definition of each concept in your own wordS (definitions copied directly from the book will not be aerated), before applying that concept to the conflict. You may not select "conflict" as the concept you apply from week 4.
4. Paragraph 6 should be based upon the "Conclusion" section in the syllabus. It should very briefly summarize the general idea of what you wrote in earlier paragraphs without necessarily repeating details.
You will hand in a hard copy but also submit the paper on Blackboard using Safe Assign, allowing us to compare similar papers from different students. DO NOT PLAGIARIZE. Every semester, despite my warnings, several students hand in papers with material from other students' papers from this or previous terms or from the Internet. DON'T DO IT!
