I am currently a Senior Financial Analyst for Canvas Inc. working in direct support as a contractor for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). I have worked in this position for almost five years. I really enjoy working with my team and supporting the Army Warfighter in providing the ability to defend our nation against potential attacks. I am also in the Alabama Army National Guard; I have been deployed twice in the last 8 years. The last deployment was to Kuwait. During my deployment I served as the Deputy G8, Comptroller for the 135TH Expeditionary Sustainment Command. I managed funds and funded contracts in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2009 through 2010, I was deployed to Afghanistan as the budget officer for the 135TH Expeditionary Sustainment Command.

Prior to my deployment I was a manager for K-Mart in Huntsville, Alabama. I managed over 12 employees at one time. I was responsible for receiving merchandise into the store, updating floor layouts and handling customer complaints. The hardest part of my job was counseling employees for being late for work, or just not showing up at all.

The longest job that I performed was from 1997 until 2006. I worked for Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Cullman, Alabama. I unloaded merchandise and inventoried freight.

After nine years of employment at Wal-Mart, I wanted something more out of life. I decided I wanted an education. My goal was to become a manager for Wal-Mart but this never became reality.

I completed my Associates in Applied Science Degree in 2004 in Management and Supervision from Wallace State. After I graduated, I decided I wanted more, so I went on to complete my Bachelor's degree in Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2007. During the five years of college, I worked a full time job and raised my four children. I joined the Army National Guard and received my commission upon completing my Bachelor's degree. While at UAB, I joined the newly founded Management Society and became its first president.

With all this being said, I am now married to my wonderful wife and have three new daughters for a total of seven children. I have decided that pursuing my Masters in Management is not just for my benefit but my families as well. I hope to inspire my children to work hard and achieve all their goals in life. With this being said our oldest daughter is a sophomore at MSU with a 4.0 and just completed an unpaid internship at the Nashville Zoo in Tennessee. I am honored to be in this class and I look forward to getting to know everyone during the next eight weeks. My goal after this class and obtaining my Master's Degree are to continue in supporting the Department of Defense in budgeting and finance.

This class will help me further understand Human Resource Management and hopefully be a better team lead and teammate. Through the understanding of Human Resource Policy I believe I can better assist my company with current and future employees. I believe team work is the key to success in all organizations. I believe that this ability to create and improve the environment that fosters productive members of society. I believe this course will help me later in my career with the Department of Defense.
