Question: module 2 dq 2 argument Melvyn

A significant relationship between the sample and the population is, the population can exist without a sample, but a sample cannot exist without population (Hazra & Gogtay, 2016).

- Researchers chose from a population which is the largest possible collection of participants that study is interested in, to include in a study. The sample is a subset of a population. The sample should represent the population with a smaller amount, a sufficient number of participants. - A population is the source to obtain samples in a research study. A sample may contain two or more participants selected out of the population. One population can have a number of samples with various sizes. The smallest possible size for a sample is two and largest would equal to the size of population.

- Any set of people, places, conditions, or objects can be considered a population, based on the claim of the study. A population should be large enough making it difficult to suggest some characteristics by studying its sources individually. Emmel (2015) stated several researchers performing either qualitative or quantitative designs posit the variable is main starting point in understanding subject matter.

- The primary data for my proposed topic comes from a population size of 50-55 sponsors in an Alcoholic Anonymous' 12-step program. This amount reflects the number of 12-Step programs in the Jackson area that offer sponsorship. The random sample size I am seeking is 10-20 sponsors. After reading the class resource material I understand these numbers will change. The facilities may not give information about sponsors and sponsors may not participate in interviews. The descriptive statistics will begin with reading transcripts from interviews, coding, creating categories, and connections organizing themes.
