Question: Measurement should definitely be done more frequently than annually to ensure that the organization is performing at its highest power. Since measurement pertains to the performance of the organization, externally and internally, it should be analyzed on at least a quarterly basis to successfully reach its mission, vision and goals. Measurement plays a very important role when it comes to turning a business strategy into desired results. Industry leaders in today's business world use balanced measurement systems to track customer and employee satisfaction as well as financial performance and operating efficiency ("Good Measurement Makes a Difference in Organizational Performance," 2018).

These reasons are essentially why measurement should be done more frequently. For instance, in healthcare, in order for an organization to obtain and maintain satisfied patients and employees, performance measures will need to be done so that the organization can make the necessary changes and improvements. The organization can do customer surveys to find out if the patients' are satisfied with their service, if their products are cost-effective, if their staff is professional, etc., and these surveys can be evaluated every three months to make sure that they are meeting the needs and wants of the patients. Now, with employees, meetings should be held on a quarterly basis as well, so that the organization can listen to the ideas, opinions, concerns and recommendations of their employees; which can also be used to better the organization. This is also a good way for the organization to find out if their employees are happy with their pay, management team, and job responsibilities. These are just some of the measurements that are extremely important and should be looked at on at least a quarterly basis instead of annually. They are linked to the full success of an organization and should not be taken lightly. The results of the measures should be thoroughly communicated to everyone in the organization so that it can reinforce its strategic plan. Doing measurement more frequently than annually not only establishes a clear line of sight to organizational goals but it also ensures operational effectiveness.
