Topic: In Book IV Socrates and company complete their description of their city and finally get to the question of the virtues of that city and the parallel virtues of the individual human soul. Discuss.

Additional Recommendations: What are the four virtues they consider? Briefly describe these virtues as they apply to the city: what are the virtues, how are they defined by Socrates and company with reference to the city, etc.

Do you agree that the city described by Socrates and company is a city that possesses the virtues as they are defined by Socrates and company? Etc.

Recall that the whole discussion of the city was supposed to lead us to an understanding of justice in the soul of an individual person. So... looking at the presentation given in Book IV, how do Socrates and company describe the virtues as present in an individual human being's soul?

Since Socrates was asked to "defend" and "come to the aid of" justice, and to show that it is good and choiceworthy for its own sake, to what degree do you think that his account of justice in an individual soul in this Book has helped to show that justice is worthy of choice? Etc. Etc.

The most relevant pages are from marginal page 427D to the end of Book IV. Again, there is some material within those pages that is less directly relevant to the question at hand, but you could consult these pages when thinking over and writing out your thoughts on this question.
