Question: In our class, there will be opportunities to build presentation strengths, work on goals, and have some fun with public speaking. These opportunities will range from presentation practice activities, to the more formal special occasion, informative, and persuasive speeches.

Your first presentation practice assignment will relate to whom you most admire as a speaker. Compose a short presentation, approximately 1 to 1.5 minutes in length, using the following plan:

Offer a welcome statement and tell us your name.

Clearly state the name of the speaker you most admire. This individual could be someone you know personally, or a presenter on a conference circuit or mass media.

Share biographical information to give us a better picture of your selected speaker.

Tell us why this person is the one you admire the most.

Conclude your presentation.

Please consider the following COD priorities as you prepare your presentation; 100 points will be earned for "good faith" effort and achieving a time of 1 to 1.5 minutes. Presentations that do not meet (1) "good faith" effort per instructor observation, and/or (2) time requirements, will earn lower scores.

Content: Presentation wording is descriptive, diversified in terms of vocabulary, easy-to-follow, and rich in meaning.

Organization: Presentation has well defined, clear structure, guiding audience from introduction, to main points, to concluding statement(s).

Delivery: Speaker is well poised, engages in quality eye contact, and delivers content in a fluent, articulate manner, within time parameters provided.
