Question: Find a common object in your home and perform a brief analysis of the geological origins of the ingredients or components in the object. Submission must be .pdf document. Do not submit a Pages or a Word file, for example. You may use Word or Pages, or the writing software of your choosing, to write your submission, but be sure to "Save As" or "Export" your submission as a .pdf document. Select a common household object in your home that is complex enough to contain at least four distinct elements or materials. At the top of your submission, give the name of the object and clearly list the four distinct materials in that object. Each material must have a different geological source (this means: no more than one petroleum product). You'll probably have to do a little research while selecting the materials.

(1) Take a picture or some pictures of the object, no more than four, but enough to show me each of the materials. If you can show all four materials in one image, then that's great but not required. If the object has an ingredient list, such as a food product, shampoo, or cleaning product, then take an additional image of the ingredient list printed on the packaging. All pictures must be in focus. If you can't get close enough to take a picture in focus, take it farther away and then crop and zoom. If you still can't take a good picture, find another object.

(2) Resize your images so that they each take up less than a half page. Make sure the total document size is less than 2MB. If it's bigger, then your images are too big and you'll need to make them smaller.

(3) Make sure each image is captioned with the material that that image is intended to feature.

(4) Finally, do a little research to find out what role geology has in the history of each material. Report on your findings in list format by material so that I can read it easily. See example below for the correct format.. You do not have to use complete sentences.
