Question: Discussion 1: Last year, an organization established a company policy requiring that all employees smile and make eye contact with customers. Since then, employee grievances have continued to escalate. In the last month alone, 10 employees from three different stores have filed grievances. Most of them list customer harassment as a major issue: The customers assume that the employee is flirting with them because the customers are misreading the social cues. Additionally, one employee who had recently suffered the loss of her spouse complained about being reprimanded by a supervisor because she was not smiling at customers "with sufficient enthusiasm."

The organization wants to maintain an image as a friendly place to shop that cares about its customers, but the organization also wants to be a place where employees can work in a safe environment.

Explain which communication technique (or techniques) you think would be most helpful in creating a solution, and explain why you believe the technique (or techniques) will help.

Article Review: Locate an article that focuses on managing conflict in an organization through communication. The article must be clearly related to the course content and have the potential to contribute significant analysis and substantial engagement with the course topic.
You will need to accurately identify the article's premise, significant points in support of the premise, and the significance of those points to the course and/or the field. You need to present an insightful and thorough analysis of the article with strong arguments and evidence. Your interpretation will need to be both reasonable and compelling.

As you write the review, be certain to analyze the type of conflict discussed in the article.(Rahim's functional outcomes and Rahim's dysfunctional outcomes) in your analysis. Be certain to suggest communication techniques to manage functional conflict or, alternately, communication techniques to resolve dysfunctional conflict.

Along with the article being reviewed, you will need to reference at least two peer-reviewed sources. Use the standard five-paragraph format (introduction/body/conclusion). APA format should be used. The critical review should be a minimum of two pages in length. Content, organization, and grammar/mechanics will be evaluated.

Discussion 2: What is the marketing mix? Discuss how conducting a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis helps a firm to develop its strategic plan. Think of a recent trip to the movies, the grocery store, or a department store. Brand placement and product promotion is constantly around us, so what have you recently spotted?

Please select one of the industries listed below, and search for information about the marketing mix used by at least two companies in your selected industry: soft drink, fast food/restaurant,hotel, cell phone provider, banking, automobile, airline, or entertainment. Provide an example of the four areas of the marketing mix-product, price, placement, and promotion-used by each of your selected companies. Discuss where their marketing mix strategies are similar and where they are different. Explain why. Identify the product positioning and brand strategy used by your two chosen companies. Relate the importance of product positioning to their brand strategy. Also, consider the element of ethical promotion and social responsibility toward consumers. In addition to company websites, ibisworld and mergent are excellent resources to find information about markets and individual companies. Your essay must include an introduction.

You must also reference at least one journal article and two articles from business-related or news websites; therefore, your essay should be supported by at least three sources. Your research project must be at least six pages in length and double-spaced, not counting the title and reference pages.

All sources used must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations.

Use APA style guidelines for formatting. An abstract is not required.
