Question: Construct a sample portfolio, then track and analyze its performance for the next 7 weeks. Every Tuesday from April 3, 2018 to May 22, 2018.
Use Yahoo Finance to construct the portfolio. (Registration is free.) Click "My Portfolios" and use the drop-down menu to choose "New Portfolios." Follow instructions to construct the portfolio. You will create analysis reports on its performance each week.
Use $1,000,000 for your portfolio. Select the 10 stocks that you think have the most growth potential. Use the tools on this site to diversify your portfolio and either meet or have your total be under $1,000,000.
For the purchase price use the previous business day's closing price.
Every other week, you will report and analyze the portfolio's performance.
You can keep the composition of the portfolio as you have made your selection in the first week or make changes and report the results in weeks three, five, and eight.
This way you can track performance and stock analysis. Tell us about your portfolio composition, along with a brief explanation of the stocks you selected, and include at least two sources.
Your initial post must be in your own words, be a minimum of 450 words in length, and be supported with a reference/citations.
The Final Paper is the final report for the portfolio. The body of the report should be 1,200 to 1,500 words (Include introduction and conclusions, references and citations). Use APA 6th ed. format. How well you understand and express your thoughts and logic in explaining the results. Include:
• Your initial strategy, and discuss how your might have revised this over time.
• Details about the allocation of the portfolio (fundamental and technical analyses).
• Any news that may have affected your specific investments.
• General economic events or news that may have affected your overall portfolio.
• Government issues that may have affected your specific investments or your overall portfolio.
• Your recommendations and advice for your client going forward (assume you've been selected to be his permanent portfolio manager).
Your portfolio spreadsheet should be included as an exhibit.
