Question: Classroom response

Whistle blowing is when someone tell when they see something illegal, or immortal practice. By telling what they saw they hope someone will do something to change it.By whistle blowing the person can be threatened or harrass.

Dr Wang was right to expose the cigarette companies. He did not let the threats stand in his way of what is right no matter what the circumstances were. I would have done the same things. I remember working at the age of 16 at Churches Chicken after being on the job for two weeks i took out some chicken to fry and notice a foul smell the chicken smell spoil.

I ask the other worker did they notice the smell of the chicken they said yes but continue to cook the chicken I was very upset because the chicken was no good the smell was horrible so I went to the manager and told him the chicken did not smell right he said it was ok to cook, I don't have money to waste by throwing chicken in the garbage I was very upset to hear this so I ask the other employee how can you cook the chicken when it is spoil and sale it to the public they got mad at me. The manager told me to be quiet cook the chicken or go home. I took of my apron and walk out went home and was a whistle blower and called the Health Department on Churches Chicken. The whistle blower protection Act of 1989 protect employee's who refuse to participate in wrongful activities at work.

Ethics in Practice: Whistleblower - An Ethical Dilemma

Dr. Wigand showed moral intelligence in this situation by exposing the cigarette companies for the misconduct that was discovered. The moral intelligence happened because he continued to keep moving forward despite the death threats and other forms of bullying and proved what the company was doing to their consumers. Dr. Wigand proved that he cared more about individuals than the company's say they do. Dr. Wigand rejected to contribute to the situation no matter the circumstances.

Given the circumstances I would have probably done the same thing. Although there was serious consequences in the past, there are not forms of laws that is put in place to all companies no matter the size and type.
