The new Surface 3 uses advertising via television. During the Christmas holiday they had a pretty catchy song for the Surface Pro. That song was a reminder to consumers about the new Microsoft computer. Microsoft used marketing as its' promotion strategy. It seemed to have worked because it is one of the most fastest selling computers since you can separate the keyboard from the screen.

For the product you chose for the previous question, choose one traditional integrated marketing method and one 21st-century integrated marketing method that you believe would be most effective for marketing this product. Justify your choices.

The traditional integrated marketing would be trade show participation. The item that mostly stand out is the emphasis on what's new. Because Microsoft has added new features such as size of the screen and other new features. Trade show exhibits should reveal innovation, breakthrough, and newness.

Question 4:

Developing Successful Websites. Please respond to the following:

"Developing a Winning Website" in Chapter 18 discusses a number of strategic questions to answer while developing successful Websites. For the Website you chose in the e-Activity, identify and describe how these strategic questions were addressed when developing a Website.

The website I chose is Internet Movie Database (IMDb). This website's goal is to be the number one movie data site to its followers and increase membership and sales for Amazon.com. The content will include cast, production crew, fictional characters, biographies, plot summaries, trivia and review. IMDb does editing whenever new material needs added, when edit request are made, and allows members to add their own material as well. They have enhanced the design only slightly over the last decade to coincide with their parent company, Amazon.com. IMDb increased their interactiveness by adding their most recent service which allows movie professionals to add their résumés when they subscribe to IMDb Pro. They track user activity through their message boards, movie rating by the users, and visitor clicks. Amazon.com has their own IT department that is responsible for the site and validating the content even when it is volunteered by the public.

Many businesses are taking advantage of social networks to reach customers. Choose a company that you admire. This may be the same company you discussed in the previous topic, or it may be a different company. Describe how the company is currently taking advantage of social media outlets. Explain in detail how and why you think this use of social media is either helping or hurting the company.

Amazon.com already has a big grasp on social media networks. They are taking further advantage of sites, such as Facebook, by promoting not only their sales on the news feeds and sponsor links but, also, they are promoting their subsidiaries, such as IMDb, as well. Honestly, I believe this type of advertising is helping Amazon.com and its subsidiaries by getting peoples' attention and has good links that provide easy transition from the social media to the precise webpage.
