Political Party Systems PowerPoint

Create a PowerPoint presentation to explain the two-party political system used in the United States and describe each party's process during a presidential election.

You should discuss each party and its respective mechanisms to select a nominee for president, identifying each step of the process. It may be helpful to choose a presidential election and follow the candidates from announcing candidacy to their selection as the party nominee.

The PowerPoint presentation must consist of 10 to 14 slides, not including the title and reference slides.

The presentation must include the following items:

• A title slide including your name, date, course, and assignment

• Information about each political party's structure and composition

• A definition of superdelegates and an example of their impact on an election

• Identification and summarization of the political machines at play and their impact

• Information about how media acts as a political socializing agent during an election

• Information about how each party uses the media

• A few bullets describing whether the two-party system remains a fair and viable process

• Three to four pictures, maps, or graphs that will illustrate important points in your presentation

Please note: The slides should include explanations of the above points. You may include additional information you feel is relevant, but do not create more than 14 slides. Use creativity and organize the material in a logical and understandable manner.

2. If the United States government came to you today and solicited your consulting to select the next president, what competencies would you use to make your judgement, and why? Keeping in mind this is a "fit" challenge more than an ability challenge, how would you go about ensuring the next president is a good fit for the job? Now, take those same competencies and apply them (as they fit) to your own leadership. Which items apply, and why do they fit you?

Unit V Article Critique

Locate and review a scholarly article found in a peer-reviewed journal related to HR planning. Write article critique related to HR planning. Follow the below criteria:

• There is a minimum requirement of 500 words for the article critique.

• Write a summary of the article. This should be one to three paragraphs in length, depending on the length of the article. Include the purpose for the article, how research was conducted, the results, and other pertinent information from the article.

• Identify the selection criteria and methods and how they relate to hiring at the organization in the article.

• Discuss the meaning or implication of the results of the study that the article covers. This should be one to two paragraphs. This is where you offer your opinion on the article. Discuss any flaws with the article, how you think it could have been better, and what you think it all means.

• Write one paragraph discussing how the author could expand on the results, what the information means in the big picture, what future research should focus on, or how future research could move the topic forward. Discuss how knowledge in the area could be expanded.

Any sources used, including the textbook and the article, must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations in APA format.
