The scenario: You are the leader of a highly effective nom. You have worked very hard at developing this team into a cohesive group and your efforts have paid off. Today one of your group members has asked to meet with you to discuss a problem he/she is trying to deal with. The group member explains that he/she wants to learn how to set up an Excel spreadsheet budget to track project expenses and that there is another group member that this person really, really likes that knows how to do this but he/she is hesitant to ask this other person (who they think also likes them) because if the other person says no then things might get awkward at the team meetings and when the two of them would have to work on team tasks together.

Explain what coaching style you would use in this situation what you would do. and what your supporting rationale is for this course of action. (5 points total: I point for the correct coaching style, 3 points for a non textbook explanation of what and why, and 1 point for reading what you actually write and correcting most of the spelling/typing errors)

The scenario: You are the leader of a cross-functional team and you have managed to build solid relationships with every member. One of your team member, both the youngest and the newest employee, has asked you for some advice about a non-team related situation. It seems that a customer that he has been working with wants to give him and his manager (and their spouses) an almost all expenses paid weekend getaway, in appreciation for the excellent work they have just completed for the customer. Your company's policy is clear about not excepting monetary gifts, but has been fairly lenient about employees accepting merchandise gifts with customer logos. You get the impression that your team member has been hesitant to commit and now his manager is pressuring him to accept; arguing that it is not a monetaty gift, that the customer will be insulted if they refuse to accept and it could harm future relations, and that because it is a weekend no one in the organization needs to know what employees do on their own time. Your team member is clearly distressed and is asking you what he should do.

Explain what advice would give your team member, and which ethical principles you have based it upon (5 points total: 4 points foot reasonable, logical, non-textbook, explanation and 1 point for reading what you actually write and correcting most of tne spelling/typing errors).
