Quesiton: Non-verbal communication is a type of communication between two more people through facial expressions, body language or reading the situation rather than verbal interaction (Peterson & Leonhardt, 2015). Sometimes verbal communication might be misleading, so it is important to know about non-verbal communication as well. While a people might say something from their mouth, their body language might tell a different story (Ferenz, 2017). Non-verbal communication is especially important during negotiation. During negotiation, the opposition party might be saying something, but their actual intention might be different. So, if we could read their facial expressions, eye movements and body language them we might get an idea of when they really want and counter it (Peterson & Leonhardt, 2015).

One such example of non-verbal communications that had occurred was when I was strolling in a local park. I saw two adults sitting across from each other in a park. One of them was a man who was probably in his mid-thirties. He had a bit of grey hair and he was wearing a turtle neck sweater with khaki pants. He was looking at the ring in his finger and playing with it. He had a serious and sad expression in his face. On the other side was a woman who was in her thirties as well. She was wearing a summer dress and had gold earrings. Her nose was running red, she looked somber and was saying something to the man. Her hands were moving up and down and was very expressive. After some time, the guy tried to get closer and hold her hand, but she brushed him off and didn't let him get near her. The guy then starts to scratch head and looks very worried and tensed now. I could see tears in his eyes. He gets to the ground and looks well beaten. After a while, the woman goes to the man and they embrace each other. They held each other's hand and happily walked away. From this observation, I was able to conclude that they were probably husband and wife. The way the man was playing with the ring, made me think that it might have something to do with their marriage. When the women started being expressive, and yelling something, it might be possible that it was the man's fault. He tried to go near her which meant he was trying to say sorry and make up, but the woman wouldn't budge. Finally, when the woman got close to the man and they embraced each other I felt that the woman had forgiven the man. This observation is a great example of reading the body language, facial expression to get a sense of what is going on (Ferenz, 2017).
