Quality Control - Term Project
Project 1: Select a real process that is currently performed in industry and gather the available data regarding that process. This may include but not limited to any manufacturing process for producing parts automotive, aerospace, power generation, etc.) or a chemical process to obtain a certain chemical compound or any other suitable process (you may gather the data from authentic websites/internet sources/ text books/international journals/conference proceedings etc. as well). Select a suitable title of the project (based on the type of analysis you would want to do in it). For the selected process and based on available and/or collected data present at least one case study which may include (but not limited to) the following:
- Describe in brief the component or mechanism and its application
- Determine the type of control charts needed
- Set-up control charts, complete an inspection sheet and fill in the charts
- Determine whether the process is in control or not
- If portions are out of control give suggestions as to how the process could be brought in control.
- Discuss the effect of number of samples/observations (m) collected on the control limits.
- Discuss the effect of sample size on control limits (n)
- Discuss the process capability based on the data collected.
Project #2: Design and execute a designed experiment, then analyze the data. The experimental design will have no less than 3 variables and 3 levels. Complete a write up to explain what the experiment is and what can be concluded. Apply on a real case from industry or selected situation to obtain data and define your designed experiment.
Requirements: The report should contain:
- A standard format of report (please refer to the format of any reputed international journal).
- A description of the process and any assumptions if required.
- All of the required calculations in the form of case study.
- Your analysis, charts, tables and conclusion.
- Only hardcopy submission will be accepted.
