Purpose:

To examine media using rhetorical concept.

Directions

Select a text (speech, video, lyrics, movie clip, headline, ad, chat room discussion posting, cartoon, etc.) to answer the following questions.

Your answers should explain how and why you came to the conclusions about each answer.

1) Who is the rhetor?

2) Who is the intended audience? Who is the extended audience? How did you draw this conclusion?

3) What is the desired outcome- what is the rhetor trying to accomplish?

4) Did the rhetor use ethos, logos, and pathos? if so, explain how the rhetor used each.
