Provide a brief review of the impact of: 1) Past decision processes; 2) Future risks, impediments, or windfalls; and 3) Unexpected external impacts on your problem and chosen alternative/s. Consider methods to improve your position by adjusting your decision or altering the impact of the 3 factors listed in this assignment. The length must be between 200 and 400 words.

Company A has created a website "Me2you.com" through which users of its cellphones share minutes among themselves without buying new minutes. Company B has also created a website "Metoyou" where needy people are helped through material donations. The use of almost similar website names creates a confusion in customers who want to use the me2you website but end up using the Metoyou website instead. This causes conflict between Company A and Company B.

Objectives

To come up with a way of differentiating between the two websites that reduce competition between Company A and B. To grant Company A security of having all its clients as before without some of them being misled into using Company B's website.

Alternatives and Ideas

The root of the problem is the similarity in naming of the two companies' websites. This could be approached by coercing Company B into changing the name of its website to something like "helpthepoor.com" or any other name of their choice. Company A should retain the name of their website since they came up with the name first. Another approach to the question is advising the two companies to edit the homepages of the websites such that a client accessing the websites can tell whether they are on the wrong or right website by the images they see on the homepage. Alternatively, the two companies can form a partnership that promotes the services of the both companies. Company A and B could form a common website through which each of the companies' services are advertised and provided to clients. However, this would favour Company B because Company A is helping it because it is more popular. The two companies would set terms and conditions on how to share the benefits to prevent further conflict.
