PROMPT: How did the (French) Revolutionary period both embrace and reject Enlightenment ideals?

Please organize your post into paragraphs (in essay-style). Include an identifiable argument--be specific in identifying and describing the specific Enlightenment period ideals you believe were embraced/rejected, and how. Be specific! This means that you will need to use sources from the Enlightenment and the French Revolution to make your argument. You are of course encouraged and welcome to use additional sources, including other primary sources assigned/available, and your textbook. DO NOT USE ANY OUTSIDE (NON-ASSIGNED) SECONDARY SOURCES. 

Please remember to cite original documents as original author last name (such as de Gouges, Rousseau, Robespierre, Defoe, etc.) OR by document title when there is no specific or known author (such as Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen  or  Petition of Women of the Third Estate to the King)

YOUR PEER REPLY: Please respond to a peer and offer additional contributions, insights, deeper questions to consider, etc. In order to avoid repetition, try to respond to a peer that chose a different focus or perspective than you. Source use, including primary, is a requirement for the peer reply. Avoid critiquing your peer(s).

EXTRA CREDIT: You can earn up to 5 extra credit points (scoring based on the rubric) for an additional peer reply, provided that all required work for the module--including your noted document, original posts, and required peer replies for BOTH TDs--was submitted on time with full effort demonstrated and all requirements met (citations, source use, bibliography, etc. in original post and peer reply, as well as the noted document turned in). Your first reply will be scored as the required one. Source use is required, and your second reply must be markedly different than your first. My time will be focused on those extra credit replies that demonstrate extra, exemplary effort; minimal responses and those that do not meet all requirements will not be scored. This is a great opportunity to earn extra credit while further exploring course concepts.
