Transformational leadership is a type of leadership style that leads to positive changes with those who follow. Transformational leaders are generally energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate. Not only are these leaders concerned and involved in the process, they are focused on helping every member of the group succeed as well.
Transactional leadership is a type of leadership exhibited by a leader who seeks to motivate followers by appealing to their own self-interests. Transactional leaders use conventional reward and punishment to gain compliance from their followers. Transactional leaders accept the goals, structure, and culture of the existing organization. They must do so because this type of leadership is ineffective at bringing about significant change.

2. Read The Transformational Leadership Report (2007).
o Read and reflect on the report, The Transformational Leadership Report, and then contemplate when the implementation of Transformational Leadership or Transactional Leadership is appropriate. Which situations would warrant different styles?
It is common for a leader to become overwhelmed in various leadership models and theories in their attempts to become effective. However, in Encourage the Heart, Kouzes and Posner (2003) portray some simply, yet extremely effective strategies, that a leader can apply. They discuss common issues and practices, which can easily be overlooked due to the nature of the task.
For this assignment, you will use the two readings from your primary resource, "The Fourth Essential - Personal Recognition" and "The Sixth Essential - Celebrate Together," to reflect upon the concepts shared and then determine if these approaches are practical. Do you believe they are effective? In your response, discuss some examples noted in the readings and/or personal experiences or observations.
