Project Overview

Human Resources (HR) is a gift and a curse. Some employees run around doing all they can to hide their actions from HR, while others allow HR to make their lives easier and more fruitful. The Human Resources Department was created to serve the needs of the business, which often times include, employee satisfaction.

In fact, the more satisfied and taken care of an employee feels, the more profitable and productive the company will be. Unfortunately, the ultimate goal is for HR to protect the company they were created to support and often time's employees are left stranded.

Therefore, HR Departments have begun being proactive and educating their employees on ethical actions or the omission of certain actions which can lead to controversy in the workplace.

For the course project this quarter you are going to place yourself into a role within the HR Department. It is your sole responsibility to educate your fellow employees to in turn better protect your company's character. You will research ideas, reach out to your employees, present your ideas and wrap up to be sure everyone is on the same page.

Your final project is due in Module 06. There will be individual assignments along the way. The module they are due is noted in the time line below.

Requirements

For each module of the course you will be asked to complete a different component of the project.

The deliverables in Modules 01-03 will help you put together the PowerPoint presentation that is due in Module 05.

Subsequently, the deliverables for Modules 04 and 06 allow you to interact with fellow coworkers. You will be sending out information to allow your peers to become aware of what your HR department is planning and subsequently follow up with what they need to have taken away from the meeting.

Have fun with this assignment and make your memo memorable. Let your imagination run wild.

Remember, you want to keep your employees attention during the presentation; therefore make it catchy!

Evaluation

Each assignment leading up to the final assignment is evaluated and graded independently. Your instructor will provide specific grading criteria for each step of the project prior to its due date.

(The assignment below is the actual assignment for module 1)

Please take a moment to review the Project introduction. Understanding the entire project formation as a whole will allow you the ability to understand what each portion of the project is asking on a much larger scale. Each of these small project parts are going to inevitably be placed together to complete one cohesive project.

It's time to begin the course project by "Naming your company." Choose a company that you are hypothetically creating for the project.

This fictitious company needs to be identified by:

Name

Industry

Domestic or International

Type of Partnership/Corporation

Number of employees

Years in business

Yearly revenue

Any complaints that have been lodged against the company

Any other pertinent information you deem necessary

All of this information is going to be fictitious but it is important to have as a foundation for the remainder of the project to be completed.

The overview of your company needs to span in length from 1-2 pages in Word and include all pertinent information about your company.

Note: You may also elect to submit a 10-slide PowerPoint presentation with this information.

All of your company information for the remainder of this project is going to be pulled from this initial submission, which must be approved by your faculty member before moving on to subsequent parts.

Therefore, if you fail to include pertinent information this week, it will affect your submissions in weeks to come. Please do your due diligence and summarize your company wisely. Your faculty member is available if you need further assistance.
