PROJECT ASSIGNMENTS SCENARIO

You have been assigned to the Project Manager role fora project in Anchorage, Alaska where it snows 12" daily (or so it seems), and sometimes reduces air traffic to 1 flight in and 1 flight out daily.

The city wishes to upgrade its technology center with current hardware and software, and hand off 24-hour phone support to a vendor based in India.

The core project team is located in Anchorage and consists of the following:

• The Project Sponsor is the Mayor, Dan Sullivan.

• In addition to the mayor, you have the current technology director and 4 technicians.

o The Technology Director is Mitch Stevens. Mitch is very knowledgeable and knows the current center inside and out.He is an introvert whostores everything in his head andloves to hunt.

o The 4 Technicians are Brad (new to the team), Katie (a 5-year veteran whois 5 months pregnant), and Bob and Mick (local college students).

• The Procurement Team is located in Juno. As it supports the entire state, they stay busy procuring for everyone.

o All hardware will be made to order and is to be built by Dell.

o Juno is in the middle of their city technology center upgrade and may have enough hardware to cover Anchorage, as they changed plan mid-project. However, youwon't know for another month or 2 what, if anything, may be available.

o COTS software will be used where possible, but there is 1application that connects all units in the building which has not yet been developed.

• The Development and TestingTeams are located in Delhi, India.

o Their lead team Project Manager is Kumar, and he is located in Alaska with you. He will also be the lead for the support team that needs to be assembled and trained, but those contracts have not yet been signed. You will need to make sure this happens.

The project will be completed in 6 months and cost $500k and is scheduled to start in 1 month.

You will need to create a high level project plan (Resuiremtns, Design, Build,Test, and Release) to support you work, add resources and cost (assumed - this is not graded) to each section, to support your work. Use this timeline.
