Selecting the Right Human Resource Information System Package

Scenario

With a solid start and a happy board of directors, you are well on your way to establishing an effective succession plan. To help streamline current and future procedures, you have decided to invest some time in finding an HRIS package that will fulfill the succession needs of your organization. You know that each HRIS package boasts different results but are not sure which might align best with the succession goals you are trying to accomplish. As such, identify the top three HRIS products to conduct a side-by-side comparison of their functions, solutions, security measures, costs, and miscellaneous considerations that come with the product. Seeing this information in an outlined format will not only assist you in your decision but can also help you highlight the rationale for your final HRIS selection to your board of directors.

Tasks to complete:

- Review pages 315-327 in Chapter 14 of the course text Effective Succession Planning and the online chapter entitled "Human Resource Information Systems" found in this week's Learning Resources.

- Conduct research to select three human resource information system (HRIS) packages to conduct a side-by-side comparison.

Assignment:

To complete this Assignment, complete the following parts:

Part 1: HRIS Product Analysis Template
o Download the HRIS Product Analysis Template, found in this week's Learning Resources.
o Analyze the websites and consumer reviews of at least three different HRIS solutions/packages to familiarize yourself with each product.
- Note: Many HRIS websites allow you to experience their product by completing free, online demos. To access these demos, you will have to provide an e-mail address. This assignment does not require you to participate in the demos, but you may choose to do so if you would like to gather more information on the products.
o Evaluate human resource information system packages according to organizational needs.
- First, conduct a side-by-side comparison of the three HRIS packages you explored using the HRIS Product Analysis Template.
- Then, write a 2-paragraph review for each of the packages that summarizes the overall features offered, as well as the usability and strengths of the software package's interfaces.
- Describe how the features, usability, and strengths of the package would align to the organization's succession needs.
o Support how these elements may be used to plan for an organization's future, succession goals, and/or to fill succession gaps by citing specific references to this week's Learning Resources and/or your own research.

Part 2: Selecting Your HRIS Package, 2- to 3-page paper: Organization chosen is IBM

o Evaluate human resource information system packages according to organizational needs.
- Select one HRIS product from Part 1 that would support succession planning for the organization you have chosen for your Course Project.
- Provide a description of each organizational need this product could help address.
- Describe at least one pro and at least one con of your selection.
o Assess the criteria used when selecting appropriate HRIS packages.
- Identify the top five criteria you used to select an appropriate HRIS package for the organization you selected for your Course Project.
- Justify how these criteria would help the succession planning process for your chosen organization.

Note: Your Assignment must include two to three new references to support your writing, as well as website citations for each of the HRIS products you explored.
