Problem

In my previous post, I identified health care reform and competing hospital systems as threats. As an opportunity, I identified increasing patient population. The physician cardiology practice has a strategic plan that includes growing its patient population and being financially successful. With the Trump Administration discussing healthcare reform and constantly presenting new plans, it creates uncertain times for health care organizations.

Even with the uncertainty of healthcare in the near future, there are trends that are not affected by the repeal of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). These changes will still allow the physician cardiology practice to attain the goals they have created. One trend that is not changing is the population in the United States is continuing to age. In 1960, the median age of the population was 29.5, it is currently 37.9 and in the next 12 years is expected to exceed 40 (Baitman& Karpay, 2017). A second trend in health care is the technology used in diagnosis and treatment of healthcare is ever expanding and improving. From 2015 to 2016, investors put more than $8 billion into funding for healthcare technology (Baitman & Karpay, 2017).

With both an aging population and expanding technology, the physician cardiology practice will attain its goals. The organization will need to continue to adhere to any regulations put in place by the Trump Administration as well as creating and maintaining a strict budget.
