Problem -

For the part show in the following drawing you are to design fixturing sufficient to locate, support and clamp the part for the necessary machining operations. It is desired that all fixturings be included in a single plate. Available machinery includes a drill press, cutoff saw, 3-axis manual and horizontal mills, a 3-axis CNC machining center and CNC turning center (without live tooling) as well as associated standard tooling. Quantity is about 500 parts/month.

Turn in:

1. A process plan outline describing the operations preformed in each fixturing.

2. A complete list of all standard fixturing needed, any purchased parts and all material list required for fixturing.

3. Fully detailed drawings required for manufacturing of any custom fixturing. This should include: a) Assembly drawings b) Separate drawings for each custom manufactured component.

4. Each drawing should include:

a) Title block

b) All necessary tolerances

c) Material

d) Any secondary operations

5. Cost information including:

a) Tool material cost

b) Estimated tool manufacturing costs

c) Optimum manufacturing lot size

d) Estimated payback period
