- Research project: The project will be in the form a research paper that you will develop based on primaryor secondary data collection.
- Students select an organisation of their choice, study, analyse and critique its current overall application of business excellence including practices, challenges, achievements... etc with a focus on their chosen area interest, e.g. excellence/TQM in HRM, in Finance and in Marketingetc. Generate, synthesise and evaluate their findings and present their recommendations/suggestions for improvement and development based on the knowledge and skills acquired during the module.Module Description This module is a continuation of Quantitative Research Methods with emphasis on research topics related to Business Excellence. The purpose is to apply different empirical methods and align them with different theories of excellence, approaches and models in the UAE and beyond, such as the Baldridge framework for performance excellence and UAE excellence models, Statistical methods in quality management and Business Excellence and leading, building & sustaining business
Week 1: Introduction to Business Excellence. Foundations of quality management: Focusing on customers.
Week 2: EFQM, Baldridge framework for performance excellence and UAE excellence models.
Week 3: Review of Quantitative Methods applied to Business Excellence
Week 4: Two-Way and Factorial ANOVA
Week 5: Discriminant Analysis
Week 6: Structural Equation Modelling and Path Analysis
Week 7: Structural Equation Modelling and Path Analysis Using AMOS
Week 8: Two-Stage Least square
Week 9: Leading, building & sustaining business excellence
Brief In your assignment
You have to introduce your topic to the reader, explain the aim/objectives, the problem of the study and the rationale of the study. You then have to perform a detailed literature review using REFEREED JOURNAL ARTICLES that have addressed same or similar issues/challenges/advantages/problems/solutions you are dealing with, in your research.
At least 10 ARTICLES NO OLDER than 5 YEARS that show a connection to your work should be cited in the assignment. Based on this literature review you need to demonstrate logically, what approach you are going to take and describe your methodology for applying and validating your approach, e.g. developing clear hypotheses.
You may use some textbooks, books, newspapers ... etc when discussing the theoretical concepts related to your assignment. Following this step, you discuss the methods you adopted, such as the sample, variables, measures and tests and analyse your primary orecondarydata, get them presented and discussed.
Your recommendations, for both practitioners and researchers, MUST be drawn from your findings and related well to the purpose/aim and problem of the assignment.
