POLICY PAPER INSTRUCTIONS

You will write a policy paper based upon relevant research. If you have a military background, you are encouraged to pursue some aspect of family and resilience that your experience has led you to believe change is needed.

If you do not have a military background, you have been exposed to many different, relevant topicsat this point in the course.

Choose 1and, after attempting to locate any current policies, design your own policy based upon your research.

Possible examples include; you may recommend particular, research-based leadership practices that would benefit families in some particular area, or your research may lead you to conclude counseling should be mandatory for those left behind during periods of deployment.

The Policy Paper mustcontain 4distinct sections that mustbe used as headings:

• Introduction of Subject - This section must include an engaging, well-thought-out thesis statement that conveys the main idea for the recommended policy change.

• Research - This section must evaluate researchindicating thatimprovement is needed.You must present evidence bearing on all sides of the policy. You must cite a minimum of 3 scholarly sources.

• Recommendation and Implementation - This section must explain your recommended policy change as well as implementation recommendations for the new policy.You must support your recommendations with evidence from the research.

• Conclusion - The paper must end with a strong conclusion. The concluding paragraph mustrestate your thesis, summarize your subpoints, and leave the reader with an interesting final impression.

Papers mustbe written using current APA format and mustbe 3-4 pages (not including title page, abstract, or references).
