PART A - Purdue University provides an online writing lab that provide many tools for the writing process. Access to the site can be found at the following link:.https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/ (Links to an external site.)  Please do not cut and paste from this site but read and respond in your own words.

1. Please select the "General Writing" link listed in the table to the right.  On "The Writing Process"  page review  "Prewriting (Invention)" . Summarize the strategies listed to assist in the prewriting stage.

2. Next select the "General Writing" link again. On the "Academic Writing" page review "Using Appropriate Writing". What are the five aspects of appropriate language listed? Select two of the aspects and provide a summary of the information provided. (50 word minimum per summary)

3. From "General Writing" select the "Grammar" and then the  "Mechanics" pages. Review three sections from both the Grammar and Mechanics pages. Identify three different Grammar and three different Mechanics tips provided form the resources available.Make sure and provide specific tips and not topic headings

4. From the main site, select "Research and Citation". On the "Conducting Research" page list three tips for conducting research.

5. Next select "MLA Style" from the "Research and Citation Resources" page.. Review the MLA Formatting and Style Guide. Look at all the MLA resources listed on the right. What are your thoughts on the various MLA tools provided? For what disciplines is the MLA commonly used according to the site.

I hope you will continue to use the resources available on the Purdue Owl Online Writing Lab throughout your college career. Please note the research and Citation link that will assist in your research and provide citation rules and examples for you to use. I have attached a table provided for your overview of the citation and format styles. Ever used the Chicago Manual Style?

PART B - Complete Expand Your Skills - Sharpening Your Career Skills Online on page 170. Go to the link provided. Enter "effective proofreading" in the search box. Review at least three different types of presentations. Include the url of each, the name of the presentation and the career skills information presented. (Minimum 50 word summary for each of the three).

As a final step provide a summary list of ten to twelve tips for proofreading provided by the experts. Please do not send an e-mail, but include in the assignment.
