The Cultural Autobiography Paper will allow students the opportunity for an in-depth examination of their own identities, values, and experiences related to culture. Consideration of such personal values and variables is essential for therapists in understanding

(a) their own worldviews,

(b) the worldviews of their clients, and

(c) how issues of diversity and social structures impact their therapeutic work. Self-awareness is a primary component of ethical counseling practice. Ultimately, you decide what you are including and what you want to think about in private.

a.Each student will describe their own experiences with multicultural issues.

b. Describe how you learned about your heritage, family ritual, what growing up was like, relevant demographics, family held worldviews, and familial experiences with oppression. grew up in california, los angeles then joined the military grew up in a hispanic family.

c. Explain how these issues have affected you and how your experiences effect how you work with other groups. military changed and affected me and marrying a man who was african american

d. Select the most appropriate model of identity development for your primary cultural identity from the Sue & Sue book and outline it clearly in your paper. see attached i am in stage 5

e. Using that model, citing your book/sources, determine in what stage you are in your personal identity development. Describe the traits and behaviors you see in yourself that you used in your self-assessment.

f. Explain what happened in your past that moved you, or allowed you to move, from one stage to the next to get you where you are today.

g. Describe what needs to happen to move you to the next stage of development, using the insights from Sue and Sue book (2016) or additional sources you identify regarding your selected model of identity development. What will you do to bring about that next stage of development?

h. Describe what you will do to move to the highest levels of identity development and integration.

Your final product will be a 7-8 page Word document written in APA format, utilizing at least four scholarly sources. Your paper should be written in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
