My family and I are avid fisherman. We love the water(saltwater and freshwater). We snorkel, dive, fish and boat. We love it so much we have a 75 gallon saltwater aquarium in our living room, just to duplicate what we see in the ocean. It is a blessing to experience the underwater world of planet Earth. There is a whole fragile world down there that needs specific environments in order to grow and thrive. What people don't realize, is that our everyday laziness and recklessness are killing those communities. Once gone, they can never return! The website I found is from "National Geographic". Their scientists have counted nearly 400 "dead zones" where our garbage and pollution have killed marine life communities, never to return! They say there is a floating garbage patch, the size of Texas, in the north Pacific Ocean. It is random garbage, discarded fishing nets, and human debris just floating around ensnaring ocean life and killing them. Sewage, plastics, fertilizers and oil float constantly through our planet's oceans and waterways, leaving death behind it. This site also describes how sound pollution is also effecting marine life. Sound waves from large ships and sonar devices can disrupt migration, hunting, and reproductive patterns in the animals that live in our oceans.
