Part 1:

Part 3:

1. What balance should exist between correctional leaders and politicians and political groups? What are the competing concerns among these groups, and why are they relevant to effective correctional leadership?

2. What are the consequences of viewing a correctional union as "the problem" in the political process? Do union and correctional leader relations have to be strained? Suggest a proactive approach to dealing with correctional unions.

3. Why is fear a crippling factor for correctional leadership? Discuss the effects of being afraid to lead within correctional organizations. Describe positive ways that fear can be addressed by correctional leaders.
