Part 1: Self-awareness & Cross-cultural Competence

Using the theories, concepts, tools, and techniques you have learned in class which includes (political, economical ,social and technology)analyse your national, ethnic (or regional) and family cultures. Briefly describe each. Compare and contrast your own personal, cultural identity with that of your national identity. How similar or different are you? How have you adapted your cultural identity since living in Australia (provide an example)?

Part 2: Leadership across cultures-(1200-1400 words); min. 8 resources (4 must be academic in nature-books, journal articles, professional periodicals etc.).

Using the theories, concepts, tools, and techniques you have learned in class, which includes(political economical social technology)analyse and then compare and contrast one or more aspects of leadership from at least two cultures/regions within a business context. Aspects may include (but not limited to): the ability to influence people, decision making, creating cohesive virtual teams, overcoming challenges etc. One of the cultures chosen may be your own.

Please note that this is an essay, not a report. Therefore a report style format answering the question is NOT appropriate. An essay can be structured with headings and subheadings, but still needs to retain fluidity.

In writing the essay students are expected to analyse the issues involved in the topic, based on their readings of appropriately cited references. Students are expected to use a wide variety of sources including textbooks and journal articles (only citable and authoritative references) to develop their arguments.

The use of examples to develop and demonstrate an understanding of the topic is expected. The essay should not be a regurgitation of material straight out of the readings. The readings should be used by students to develop their own arguments. It should be checked for spelling, consistency and clarity of expression.
