Part 1: NTFS and FAT32 File System Commands

As you are getting ready to install a new set of computers, you want to ensure that the logical C: drive for each machine is running an NTFS file system.

Discuss:

• What command will you run to check this?
• If any of the machines are running a FAT32 file system, what command will you use to change it?

Part 2: Maintenance File System Commands

Jon mentioned that the computers are 30- to 36-months-old and have not had their file systems properly maintained. One concern is that the disk might fill with unneeded or unusable data or files. He also wants to know how many errors are in the C: drive of each of these machines.

• What commands or procedures do you recommend that will provide Jon the information he wants as well as maintain the file system?

Part 3: Remote Options

As the facility is expanding, the distance between the Network Group and the average employee is growing. Jon would like to have an option to solve some computer concerns remotely. This would also begin a discussion about working remotely on a regular basis.
