The main objectives of the course are to:

- Collect and analyze data for the purpose of problem solving related to organizational behavior issues.

- Undertake, complete, present and submit a project using appropriate, methodological, evaluative, presentational and writing techniques.

- Develop competencies, together with intrapersonal and interpersonal skills, through participation in a group/individual project, present in class and submitted in a paper format.

- Develop competencies, together with intrapersonal and interpersonal skills, through participation in class group work. Critically evaluate the current organizational behavior practices. Relate the day to day issues of organizational behavior to basic dilemmas and tensions. Recognize those aspects of the organization of work - motivation, leadership, job design and communication.

After completion of the course students are expected to be able to:

1. Discuss individual behavior, values and personality (describe the multidisciplinary origins of the study of organizational behavior, describe of the factors that influence personality).

2. Summarize the perceptions, learning, emotions, attitudes, and motivation in organizations (acquire knowledge in applying motivational theories to resolve problems of employee absenteeism, turnover, stress, job satisfaction, job performance and organizational commitment).

3. Discuss high performance team development and explore the foundations of team dynamics (acquire knowledge on organizational factors affecting teams, recognize organizational cultures in which groups function).

4. Discuss team/group development (acquire knowledge describe the way teams/groups contribute to the organization describe the methods for team formation, recognize the stages of team development, describe the factors affecting selection of team members).

5. Communication in organizations (acquire abilities and in identifying why effective communication systems).

Part -2:

Assignment Brief

Assignment Scenario:

You are employed as an Organizational Behaviour Analyst for a consulting firm that specializes in conducting organizational behaviour audits for organizations. The new CEO of a local company wants to conduct an Organizational Behaviour Audit and has contacted your firm for help. The first deliverable for the project is a Plan for Conducting an Organizational Behaviour Audit that must be presented to the CEO for approval before the actual audit may begin. You have been given the task of producing this plan for your organization.

Write a 3000 word essay (+1- 10%) that provides a comprehensive "Plan for Conducting an Organizational Behaviour Audit." Your plan must provide the rationale or reason why it is important to understand the organizational behaviour of a company, the areas within the organization that should be assessed in an Organizational Behaviour Audit and the factors that should be evaluated within each area.
In answering the question, you may want to consider the following questions:

1. Why should an organization conduct an Organizational Behaviour Audit?

2. What areas within an organization should be evaluated as part of an Organizational Behaviour Audit?

3. What factors within each area should be evaluated in an Organizational Behaviour Audit?

Why are these factors important? How do these factors influence or affect the organizational behaviour of a firm?

In doing so, you have to discuss your developed competencies, together with intrapersonal and interpersonal skills, through participation in a group/individual problem solving process.

You analysis should critically evaluate the current organizational behavior practices and relate the day to day issues of organizational behavior to basic dilemmas and tensions. Recognize those aspects of the organization of work, such as motivation, leadership, job design, diversity and communication.
