Your task is to research and write a report about sustainability in an IT business.

The term "sustainability" was coined in a report for the World Commission on Environment and Development which urged businesses to be sustainable without destroying the natural resources of the environment. These days sustainability is a core element in any organisation's strategy to reduce costs, preserve resources and make businesses more unique. Implementing sustainability in business is a challenging exercise that demands communication, collaboration, information and management strategies, guidelines, procedures and policies between organisations, vendors, manufacturers and consumers.

You need to undertake some research about what happens to old computer hardware and electronic components once a computer or smart device such as a tablet, smartphone, laptop or larger sized computer malfunctions or simply ages and is replaced. This is a global problem. Your report needs to identify where in the world these computers or their component parts end up.

Assignment requires you to write a neat and a professional PDF report that will cover the following aspects (I - P - A - S - S) of your product/service.

1. Identification (a description of the product/service) and explanation of where it was made, by whom and for what purpose

2. Purpose (why have you chosen this particular product/service? talk about its need, the IT company which purchased it and for what purpose did they use it.)

3. Assimilation (Are there similar product/service (s) floating in the market? What went wrong with this one? What efforts (if any) were made to fix it? Why was it thrown away? )

4. Sustainability (how could your product/service have been kept working? explain in depth its functions and features. Explain where it has now finished up and what it is being used for.)

5. Suitability (Do you think this is a suitable purpose for this hardware to perform? Identify the advantages and disadvantages of this business cycle. Conclude your report with recommendations on how this process could be improved)

There is no minimum or maximum length for your report. However, a minimum of one paragraph for each of the aspects above is a reasonable expectation of length.

The front cover of the report should display your name, student number and title of the report.

The second page of the report should have Table of Contents with page numbers.

The report must be divided into sections (and sub-sections, if need be) and must contain a bibliography at the end.
