Outline of Research Proposal

Prepare a 2-page outline of your Research Proposal. The outline should provide an overview of the main elements of your proposal. It should include:

• Abstract

• An introduction

• A brief statement of problem

• Statement of the purpose

• The rationale for conducting the study

• Your hypotheses and research questions

• Review of Literature (sample)

• Definition of terms

• Assumptions

• Methods (participants, procedures, materials, instruments), and appropriate statistical test(s) for data analysis

• List of at least three relevant articles for the proposal

The format for your outline should follow the Research Proposal Template Posted to Week 3, while making sure you include each element or section listed above. Be mindful of APA heading levels. For the sort of information required in each section (per the instructions), please refer to the Research Proposal Template posted to Week 3.

Keep in mind that the Week 5 outline is nothing more than the format used in the proposal template. It's just that while you need to provide sufficient details to convey intent and understanding, the sections do not need to be as detailed as the final proposal. However, the outline needs to go beyond a few words for the required sections.

Research Topic

Conduct a correlational study showing a relationship between having polices in schools and reduced school violence compared to schools that do not have polices in them. For the quantitative correlational study, you will need a hypothesis and null hypothesis. You should also establish several (3 to 7) research questions to aid you in answering the research hypothesis. I have posted a link so you may observe the types of design methods.

Use The example below!

Example:

Research Hypothesis

There is a positive correlation between having police officers in schools and reduced school violence compared to schools that do not have police officers in them.

Null hypothesis

There is no statistical significant difference between having police officers in schools and reduced school violence compared to schools that do not have police officers in them.

Research Questions

What contributes to the presence of drugs and violence within schools?

How can drugs be prohibited in schools?

How can weapons be prohibited in schools?

Does having police officers within schools prohibit drugs use on campus?

Does having police officers within schools prohibit the presence of weapons on campus?

How can school violence be prohibited?
Etc.
